UAW Family,

My name is Dave Green, and since 2022, I’ve had the privilege of serving our members as the Director of UAW Region 2B.

My journey with the UAW began in 1989 at the now closed General Motors plant in Lordstown, Ohio. For most of my career, I worked on the shop floor with many of you. My experiences during those years inspired me to get involved and help build a better UAW.

After my plant closed in 2019, I knew that I wanted to work at the top level of our union to fight for our members on a broader scale because I didn’t want what happened to us in Lordstown to happen to anyone else.

As your Regional Director, I have learned a great deal about the diversity of our membership. We represent members from many different sectors and it’s been an honor for me to travel across our region to support locals during their contract negotiations and to stand with them on the picket line as they fight for dignity and respect on the job.

Our union needs strong leadership. It’s absolutely crucial. We need strong leaders able to inspire our members and willing to work as a team on the IEB for the greater good of our union. We need leaders who are committed to moving our union forward. We’ve made a lot of great progress over the last few years, but we still have plenty of work left to do.

Joining the Stand Up Slate is a new experience for me. I have always ran as an Independent for union office. But one thing I’ve learned during my time serving on the International Executive Board, is that we can get more done when we are able to work together.

In the last three years, I have seen IEB members come and go. I have seen leaders agree and disagree. I have seen firsthand who works best together and who has the passion in their heart and the fight in their gut to do the hard work that needs to be done in order to provide the representation our members deserve.

I can say I am proud to STAND UP with every member of this slate because I know their passion is to do right by our membership, and that’s incredibly important to me.

Serving as your Director has been the most challenging job of my lifetime, but it’s also been the most rewarding. It’s been an honor to work for our members and I hope you allow me to continue working for you as we prepare for the many challenges and important fights ahead.
