Hello, UAW Family. My name is Ryan Hiestand, and I am running for Vice President of the United Auto Workers (UAW) International Union.

As a third-generation UAW member and a 31-year GM worker, I have seen many administrations come and go. Some were strong and carried our proud union family forward. Others lacked either the experience or the will to truly take the fight to the company.

Today, we find ourselves at a critical moment. The auto industry is changing rapidly. Corporate strategies are shifting. New technologies are transforming our workplaces. Our members are counting on leadership that understands bargaining, knows how to navigate an evolving industry, and has the fortitude to challenge companies on the issues that matter most. That leadership is rooted in experience, and I know I am prepared to provide it.

As a former Chairman and current International Servicing Representative, I have spent years fighting for my union brothers and sisters. I have negotiated contracts with the Big Three, IPS, and Aerospace. I have handled grievances, worked alongside local leadership, and collaborated with staff on issues both large and small. I understand what it takes at the bargaining table, on the shop floor, and inside our union halls.

Strong contracts mean nothing without strong enforcement, I have the fortitude to hold a company accountable, and I know what it takes to defend our members when management oversteps.

Moving the UAW forward requires proven, experienced leadership that stands firm and has the confidence to push back when our members’ livelihoods are on the line.

The role of Vice President is about service. It’s about service to the membership, to our locals, and to the future of our union. It requires someone who is willing to listen, willing to fight, and willing to lead. We must elect leaders with the experience to move the UAW forward and the determination to challenge companies on the issues that matter most to our members.

I am asking for your support in the upcoming election so that, together, we can lead the UAW into a stronger future. Together, we will stand firm and stand up to build a stronger union our current and future members deserve. I am committed to working tirelessly and aggressively to strengthen our union to keep moving us forward.
